The FLTK library

To quote the official FLTK home page:

"FLTK (pronounced "fulltick") is a LGPL'd C++ graphical user interface toolkit for X (UNIX®), OpenGL, MacOS® X, and Microsoft® Windows®. It is currently maintained by a small group of developers across the world with a central repository on SourceForge.

FLTK is designed to be small and modular enough to be statically linked - the "hello" program is only 97k when compiled on an x86 Linux system! FLTK also works fine as a shared library and is now being included on Linux distributions."

For me, FLTK is the easiest and fastest way to write even complex UIs for many operating systems at the same time. And it's FREE!

My additions (FLMM) that are not included into FLTK, but free for download are FLTK for Mac , Fl_PSD_Image , Fl_Preferences , CodeWarrior support , Fl_Scalebar , Fl_Color_Button , fl_color_chooser_a , Cursor Shapes , docking style widgets and more

FLTK and MatthiasM

To me, FLTK is a very special library.

After Bill Spitzak, the original author of FLTK and a coworker of mine at Digital Domain, created FLTK for X-Windows, I decided to start porting the library to MSWindows.

Soon, quite a few people jumped on and FLTK developed into a very easy to understand and very fast to apply cross platform user library. FLTK quickly supported MicroWindows, OS/2 and many more Unix dialects.

About a year ago I ported FLTK to MacOS 8 and with some additions from Michael Sweet and Greg Ercolano to MacOS X. I believe we truly reached the goal of cross platform portability.

FLTK is the base for my biggest software project yet, Movido .
