SofaBug, aka WonkowagenThe SofaBug was born to cruise the desert during the Burningman festival. SofaBug is based on the CalTopBug , but pretty heavily modified to fit one full size sofa inside and another sofa onto the back of the bug. I cut the roof off a '74 Super Beetle, removed the doors and windows, move the B column 2ft to the back to fit the inner sofa. The upper sofa is mounted on a 4'x8' "living room" plaform which in turn is affixed to a 4'x4' steel frame. To the sides of the sofa I mounted bedside tables, with a stereo on top, and a light fixture. It was the perfect party mobile for the event. I counted up to 24 people on the car.
